Job description

Worley is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer in Muscat, Oman. The candidate will hold a Degree in Engineering and have a minimum of 15 years total experience in engineering or consultancy of oil and gas facilities, including at least 10 years in Technical Safety Engineering (TSE) for onshore facilities. The role involves developing technical safety deliverables across various project lifecycle stages, conducting risk assessments and physical effects modelling, managing loss prevention designs, and facilitating key safety workshops.

Responsibilities

1. Deliver Project TSE deliverables across lifecycle stages including Feasibility, Concept, FEED, EXECUTE, and Project to Asset Transition 2. Develop HSE Philosophy, Fire & Gas Philosophy, F&G Cause and Effects, F&G Layouts, and F&G Mapping 3. Perform Physical Effects Modelling and Quantitative Risk Assessment including FEA/FGDEA, flare radiation and dispersion studies, safety equipment layouts, facility siting studies, EPZ calculation, and QRA 4. Execute studies such as Safety Hazardous Area Classification, Critical Element Identification, Performance Standards, and Bow Ties 5. Apply ALARP, Design HSE Case, Operations HSE Case, AIPSM, and HEMP methodologies 6. Oversee loss prevention aspects including Fire Safety, Fire Protection Design (FW Demand, Hydraulics, Surge, PFDs/P&IDs), and Escape & Fire Fighting design 7. Conduct Human Factors Engineering Studies such as Valve Criticality and HFE Screening 8. Facilitate or lead Technical Safety workshops including HAZID, HAZOP, Bowties, ALARP demonstration, MOPO/SIMOPs, SCE Identification, and DEM1/DEM2/LFI Screenings 9. Participate in safeguarding reviews such as Design Review, HAZOP, and IPF 10. Evaluate vendor documents including Technical Bid Evaluations, Datasheets, Specifications, and Material Requisitions

Education qualifications

1. Degree in Engineering 2. Minimum of 15 years total experience in engineering or consultancy of oil and gas facilities 3. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Technical Safety Engineering (TSE) in Onshore Oil and Gas facilities with demonstrated TSE deliverables development experience 4. PDO/Shell Projects experience preferred 5. Experience conducting studies using Shell FRED, SHEPHERD software, or other PEM/Risk integration software (formal certification preferred)
