Job description

Egis is seeking a highly skilled and experienced HSE Engineer to join their team in the UAE. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in HSE practices within the building construction sector (Villa & High-rise buildings) and demonstrate the ability to manage HSE requirements across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

1. Develop, review, and update Health, Safety and Environment Management Plans. 2. Develop and deliver a monitoring schedule including tours, inspections, and audits of the site. 3. Develop a competency framework, including a training matrix, record, and plan for the team. 4. Lead weekly formal Health and Safety inspections, workshops, and meetings, raising and verifying close-out of observations and actions. 5. Chair weekly Health and Safety meetings with contractor’s Health and Safety and management teams. 6. Ensure implementation by contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors in line with HSE policy, management plans, contract conditions, and legal requirements. 7. Ensure construction Health and Safety plans are in place for each contractor before construction begins. 8. Review, approve, and verify the implementation of contractors' Health and Safety plans, method statements, and risk assessments (MS/RA). 9. Ensure contractors provide a sufficient number of competent Health and Safety professionals. 10. Communicate HSE Policy, employer requirements, objectives, standards, goals, and hazard controls to all personnel. 11. Carry out Health and Safety pre-start kick-off meetings with contractors. 12. Attend or chair contractor meetings to ensure fulfilment of contractual requirements. 13. Interface with contractors’ and employers’ Health and Safety departments. 14. Provide leadership, direction, guidance, and technical assistance to contractors on HSE requirements. 15. Ensure suitability and availability of security, traffic management, logistics, and emergency arrangements. 16. Support project managers and design consultants in delivering required HSE standards and communicating design issues. 17. Continuously monitor contractor HSE performance and issue work suspensions in cases of imminent risk or unaddressed unsafe conditions. 18. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses according to employer protocols and approve investigation reports. 19. Report regularly to the employer and Head Office on HSE performance, including monthly HSE reports. 20. Ensure contractors develop and implement reward and recognition schemes, and produce final Health and Safety files.

Education qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Engineering, or a related field. 2. Level 5/+ Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH Level 5, NVQ Level 5, OTHM Level 6, BSC Diploma, etc.). 3. Professional registrations/certifications: CM/Cert.-IOSH, CSP, CRSP, MIIRSM or Equivalent. 4. ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor qualification. 5. Minimum 12 years of experience in the Building Construction Industry (Villa/High-rise Building). 6. Previous experience as a Supervision Consultant is an advantage. 7. Valid UAE driving licence and own vehicle.
