Job description
QatarEnergy is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer based in Doha, Qatar. The role is responsible for environmental engineering and compliance activities associated with onshore greenfield and brownfield project scopes, particularly for power generation and associated projects. The candidate will provide technical input across detailed engineering design, procurement, installation, construction, and commissioning of onshore facilities to ensure full adherence to applicable environmental standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
1. Manage environmental engineering and compliance activities associated with onshore greenfield and brownfield project scopes, particularly for power generation and associated projects.
2. Provide technical input across detailed engineering design, procurement, installation, construction, and commissioning of onshore facilities to ensure full adherence to applicable environmental standards and regulatory requirements.
3. Manage and coordinate environmental interfaces with third parties and external authorities.
4. Develop and endorse environmental/HSE specifications and participate in HSE/Environmental studies such as HAZID, EIA, ENVID, HIRA, and dispersion/modelling studies.
5. Develop and review Operational or Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP), Waste Management Plans (WMP), Oil Spill Prevention and Response Plans, and related environmental procedures.
6. Evaluate environmental impact assessments across process system phases including drilling, construction, transportation, installation, commissioning, operation, and decommissioning.
7. Assess environmental risks related to decommissioning, abandonment, and demolition of existing facilities.
8. Identify technical and engineering risks, develop appropriate mitigation plans, and escalate critical issues to project management.

Education qualifications
1. B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering from a recognized university.
2. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in environmental engineering within the power generation industry, either with a power generation company or as part of a consultant/contractor team, preferably on major greenfield projects.
3. Membership in a recognized professional engineering or HSE association/institution is preferred.
4. Experience managing and coordinating environmental interfaces with third parties and external authorities.
5. Experience developing and endorsing environmental/HSE specifications and participating in HSE/Environmental studies such as HAZID, EIA, ENVID, HIRA, and dispersion/modelling studies.
6. Strong knowledge of international environmental regulations, industry best practices, and company specifications/standards.
7. Experience developing and reviewing Operational or Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP), Waste Management Plans (WMP), Oil Spill Prevention and Response Plans, and related environmental procedures.
8. Familiarity with environmental impact assessment of process systems during drilling, construction, transportation, installation, commissioning, operation, and decommissioning.
9. Experience assessing environmental risks related to decommissioning, abandonment, and demolition of existing facilities.
