Environmental Specialist

QatarEnergy LNG is seeking an Environmental Specialist in Ras Laffan 2 South, Qatar. The position leads environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, EIA/ESHIA, and GHG management for company projects and operations. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science with at least 8 years of experience in the oil & gas industry.

QatarEnergy LNG is hiring an Environmental Specialist for its operations in Ras Laffan 2 South, Qatar. The role leads environmental permitting and provides expert environmental advisory and compliance programs aligned with regulatory requirements for Company projects and operations. Key accountabilities include developing EIA/ESHIA studies, managing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) footprint data, liaising with the MoECC, and driving environmental Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

1. Lead environmental permitting and provide environmental specialist advisory and compliance programs in accordance with all applicable environmental regulatory requirements for Projects and Company operations. 2. Provide expert advice to develop permitting philosophy, including preparation of Environmental Application/Scoping Study, development of EIA/ESHIA, and scoping/planning strategy towards Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Management. 3. Lead with project team(s) to review project permitting strategy, establish environmental permitting scope and timeline, and approve content for Environmental Applications and Scoping Studies. 4. Support 3rd party service providers to communicate project details for timely permit delivery, and collate, analyze, and verify GHG emissions data. 5. Liaise with internal and external third-party service providers to develop, review, and approve content for Environmental Applications and Scoping Studies. 6. Lead, negotiate, and provide expert advice to MoECC technical team for acceptable permit terms/conditions and timely issuance of environmental permits. 7. Develop internal controls and resources to minimize third-party service provider scope as a cost optimization measure and assess carbon footprint/GHG KPIs. 8. Achieve data acquisition and analysis of resource use and emissions data/metrics, integrating energy savings, cost reduction, and carbon goals. 9. Ensure stakeholder engagement on permitting regulations and GHG/climate change position, representing the Company at forums and conferences. 10. Lead environmental Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs supporting key Company initiatives. 11. Provide input and support to Corporate Planning on GHG/flaring strategy and GHG/flaring data for update of corporate KPIs as required.

1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or science. 2. 8 years’ experience in oil and gas, process or petrochemical industries including 5 years in environmental management. 3. Knowledge of international environmental standards, regulations, and best practice management. 4. Strong environmental project experience in oil and gas industry (both conceptual and engineering).
