Job description

Schneider Electric is seeking a Sr. Manager - EHS to design, promote, and implement environmental protection, health, safety, and security programs within the plant/unit in Bangalore, India. The role ensures compliance with legal regulations and corporate standards, fosters a proactive safety culture, supports continuous improvement of EHS performance, and oversees plant/site security operations where applicable.

Responsibilities

1. Develop, implement, and maintain the Unit/Plant EHS strategy aligned with corporate EHS policies and local regulations. 2. Lead and manage the EHS management system including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, environmental permits, and audits. 3. Establish and maintain emergency preparedness and crisis management plans. 4. Conduct regular EHS governance reviews with plant leadership. 5. Monitor and interpret regulatory and statutory changes related to environment, health, safety, and security within the plant/site. 6. Ensure full compliance with national, state, and local laws regarding environmental permits, hazardous waste, occupational safety standards, and fire safety. 7. Interface with regulatory authorities during inspections, audits, and certifications. 8. Identify potential EHS risks and hazards through risk assessments including HIRA, JSA, and environmental impact assessments. 9. Implement preventive and corrective actions and oversee process safety management (PSM) in units handling high-risk operations. 10. Lead environmental initiatives including waste management, air and water quality compliance, hazardous chemical handling, and energy optimization. 11. Maintain operational controls for safe work procedures (LOTO, work-at-height, confined spaces), PPE management, medical surveillance, and contractor safety. 12. Promote a proactive safety culture through awareness initiatives, EHS training modules, safety campaigns, toolbox meetings, and leadership walks. 13. Oversee plant/site security operations including gate control, visitor management, surveillance systems, emergency response, and security audits. 14. Define EHS KPIs and provide monthly and quarterly reports to management on incident trends, near-misses, and environmental deviations.

Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ADIS, or DISH strongly preferred. 4. Experience working with regulators and auditors.
