Senior Safety Engineer

Worley is hiring a Senior Technical Safety Engineer based in Muscat, Oman, with 15+ years of oil and gas experience and 10+ years specializing in onshore TSE. The role involves leading safety philosophies, QRA studies, loss prevention design, and technical safety workshops across all project lifecycle stages.

Worley is seeking an experienced Technical Safety Engineer in Muscat, Oman, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in oil and gas engineering/consultancy, including at least 10 years in Technical Safety Engineering (TSE) for Onshore Oil & Gas facilities. The role covers TSE deliverables development across various project phases (Feasibility, Concept, FEED, EXECUTE, and Asset Transition), safety philosophies, quantitative risk assessments, workshop facilitation (HAZID/HAZOP/ALARP), and loss prevention design.

1. Develop HSE Philosophy, Fire & Gas Philosophy, F & G Cause and Effects, F & G Layouts, and F & G Mapping. 2. Perform Physical Effects Modelling and Quantitative Risk Assessment (FEA/FGDEA, flare radiation and dispersion studies, safety equipment layouts, facility siting, EPZ calculation, and QRA using Shell FRED, SHEPHERD or other PEM/Risk integration software). 3. Execute studies including Safety Hazardous Area Classification, Critical Element Identification, Performance Standards, and Bow Ties. 4. Apply ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable), Design HSE Case, Operations HSE Case, AIPSM, and HEMP. 5. Manage Loss Prevention aspects such as Fire Safety, Fire Protection Design (FW Demand, Hydraulics, Surge, PFDs/P&IDs), and Escape & Fire Fighting design. 6. Conduct Human Factors Engineering Studies such as Valve Criticality and HFE Screening. 7. Facilitate or lead Technical Safety workshops including HAZID, HAZOP, Bowties, ALARP demonstration, MOPO/SIMOPs, SCE Identification, and DEM1/DEM2/LFI Screenings. 8. Participate in Safeguarding reviews such as Design Review, HAZOP, and IPF. 9. Evaluate vendor documents including Technical Bid Evaluations, Datasheets, Specifications, and MRs.

1. Degree in Engineering 2. Minimum of 15 years total experience in engineering or consultancy of oil and gas facilities 3. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in TSE in Onshore Oil and Gas facilities 4. Demonstrated TSE deliverables development experience 5. Project TSE experience spanning various Project Life cycle stages such as Feasibility, Concept, FEED, EXECUTE, and Project to Asset Transition 6. Experience with PDO/Shell Projects is preferred
