Senior Digital Transformation Engineer

Qatalum is hiring a Senior Digital Transformation Engineer in Mesaieed, Qatar, to lead its enterprise digital transformation strategy. The position oversees Industry 4.0/5.0 initiatives, IoT, automation, AI/ML, and digital twins across operations, maintenance, and HSSE. Candidates require at least 7 years of program/portfolio management experience and 5 years leading digital transformation in heavy industry.

Qatar Aluminium (Qatalum) is seeking a Senior Digital Transformation Engineer to lead and execute its enterprise-wide digital transformation strategy. Reporting to the IS/IT Group Manager, the candidate will define the digital roadmap, drive innovation, and deliver technology-enabled improvements across operations, maintenance, HSSE, administration, and corporate functions. The role involves overseeing program governance, stakeholder alignment, and implementing Industry 4.0/5.0 solutions such as IoT, AI/ML, advanced analytics, automation, and digital twins, serving as a catalyst for cultural change to improve productivity, reliability, safety, and sustainability.

1. Ensure compliance with relevant operational procedures and maintain controlled execution of digital activities. 2. Prepare high-quality, timely reports to support leadership oversight and decision-making. 3. Uphold Qatalum’s HSE policies in all digital and operational initiatives, ensuring safe implementation of digital tools and technologies. 4. Support the development and coaching of Qatari National employees. 5. Develop, maintain, and communicate the enterprise-wide digital transformation strategy and roadmap. 6. Establish PMO governance, steering mechanisms, decision-gate processes, and track project KPIs. 7. Collaborate with leaders across Operations, Maintenance, HSSE, IT/OT, and Administration, managing external vendors and consultants. 8. Coordinate cross-functional workstreams including data platforms, digital twins, automation, advanced analytics, and change management. 9. Lead communication, training, and digital literacy programs to drive adoption at scale. 10. Develop business cases, budgets, ROI analyses, and ensure compliance with corporate, data, and cybersecurity standards. 11. Analyse business processes to identify automation/digitization opportunities and redesign workflows. 12. Improve data availability, accuracy, and governance while leading dashboarding and KPI digitization initiatives. 13. Evaluate, select, implement, and test new digital solutions while providing user onboarding and documentation. 14. Scan emerging technologies relevant to aluminium smelting and heavy industry to support long-term innovation.

1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field. 2. MBA or Masters degree preferred. 3. Minimum 7 years of experience in program/portfolio management. 4. Minimum 5 years leading digital transformation in heavy industry (aluminium smelter experience preferred). 5. Minimum 5 years' experience in OT/ICS operations and maintenance. 6. Proven track record managing large scale technology programs. 7. Professional certifications: PgMP, PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent.
